AstraZeneca & Bristol Myers Squibb in Merger Talks
AstraZeneca is reportedly in discussions with Bristol Myers Squibb to merge, potentially forming a pharmaceutical giant valued at nearly $400 billion.

United Kingdom biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca is reportedly considering a merger deal worth about $400 billion with its US rival company, Bristol Myers Squibb.
Although it's still unclear whether the deal has been finalised, discussions regarding the merger have been going on for a few months between both companies.
According to reports, the merger talks could take more time, or they could stop without a deal.
This merger marks a remarkable step in the pharmaceutical industry; if the merger happens, the new company would be worth $396 billion (approximately $400 billion), becoming the fourth-largest pharmaceutical company in the world by market value.
AstraZeneca's revenue has increased 6%, and its cancer medicines business is growing rapidly.
On the other hand, Bristol Myers Squibb is investing in AI by partnering with Anthropic to manufacture new medicines faster and boost drug development.
Both companies’ biggest market is cancer medicines. Therefore, government regulators may worry that the new company would be very powerful and could create a monopoly in the market.
If the merger occurs, the government regulators could require the companies to sell more businesses or even stop the merger.
