China has announced plans to acquire 200 aircraft from Boeing after a highly publicised meeting between Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, indicating an impending positive turn in the economic relationship between the two nations. This is considered one of the largest aircraft purchases in recent years and will be a significant boost for Boeing at a time of stiff competition in the international aviation industry. This was made following a meeting that was held with two leaders, where the focus was on trade, technology and economics.
The high demand for aircraft in China arises because of the growing number of domestic and foreign flights, and hence, China becomes an important market for Boeingas they look out for new avenues. Apart from the production outlook of the airline industry in China, this deal will help Boeing overcome a tough time in coping with problems in its supply chain and intense competition from Airbus, its major rival from Europe. Industry experts believe that this deal will boost Boeing’s competitive position in the fast-growing airline industry in Asia.

The deal also highlights the necessity for economic cooperation despite geopolitical conflicts between Washington and Beijing. The relation between the United States and China in terms of trade has had many obstacles due to problems like tariffs, technology, and security. According to analysts, large deals are usually aimed at diplomacy when it comes to international conferences; therefore, they provide a favourable atmosphere for other negotiations. Aviation deals are quite important because they involve long-term industrial cooperation and bring economic benefits. The deal will probably be beneficial to the companies involved in the production process of Boeing.
