After Hyundai Raid, Trump Calls for Training U.S. Workers

President Donald Trump declared on Sunday that foreign enterprises are mandated to hire and train American workers and to comply with immigration laws, after a raid conducted in the U.S. state of Georgia the preceding week.

South Korea is taking steps to repatriate approximately 300 South Koreans who were detained after the raid. U.S. federal authorities apprehended around 475 employees at Hyundai's automobile battery manufacturing facility in Ellabell, Georgia, on Thursday.

"In the wake of the Immigration Enforcement Operation at the HyundaiBattery Plant in Georgia, I hereby urge all foreign companies investing in the United States to respect our nation's immigration laws," President Trump articulated on Truth Social.

"Your investments are appreciated, and we promote you to lawfully bring talented individuals with excellent technical skills to develop world-class products. We will facilitate this process swiftly and legally. In return, we request that you hire and train American workers."

This statement was made shortly after he informed reporters that he would review the circumstances, noting that the incident had not compromised his relationship with South Korea.

He also proposed the possibility of admitting some foreign manufacturing specialists to assist in training American workers.
