NVIDIA CEO Huang Scheduled for a Late-January China Visit

Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, is expected to visit China to attend the company event before the Lunar New Year holidays in February, as he wants to reopen the key market for the chip maker. He may also travel to Beijing, although it is unclear whether he will meet any senior government officials. Some reports also say his plan can be changed if the meeting is not confirmed.

NVIDIA is trying to regain access to the Chinese market, which is very important for its artificial intelligence (AI) business. However, they have already suffered many problems because the US government has restricted the sale of advanced chips to China.

This decision was made last week, following Donald Trump’s decision; his administration finally approved the sale of Nvidia’s H200 AI chips to China. The approval was expected to allow them to sell their most advanced chips, even though some U.S. officials were unhappywith this decision and raised concerns.

Soon after approval, Chinese customs authorities said the H200 chips would not be allowed to enter China. Reports say Beijing considers the chip outdated, and Chinese officials are not happy with Trump's decision.

However, China is working hard to become fully independent in AI technology. The government has encouraged developers and companies to use locally made chips instead of foreign ones.

To support this goal, China is promoting Huawei as a key domestic competitor to NVIDIA Corporation, especially in the AI Chip sector.
