Different Types of Labor Codes in India
In India, there are different Labour Codes, but five are major.- The Code on Wages, 2019 No. 29 of 2019
- The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 No. 37 of 2020
- The Code on Social Security, 2020 No. 36 of 2020
- The Industrial Relations Code, 2020 No. 35 of 2020
- Code on Wages (Central Advisory Board) Rules, 2021
Aspects of Labor Codes
Labour Codes are divided into various factors, and they simplify things for employees and employers.- Contracts of Employment- It outlines the job responsibilities, pay andworking hours.
- Probation and Termination - Explains probation period, termination conditions, resignation procedure and severance.
- Permanent & Temporary Employment- Defines various employee types (Full-time, part-time, and fixed-term contracts)
- Minimum Wages—Establish a slab below which workers cannot fall, ensuring a decent standard of living for them.
- Bonuses and Incentives - Specifies entitlement to annual bonus performance based on performance.
- Overtime Pay - Deserve extra compensation for working beyond Average hours.
- Equal pay should be given to all candidates who are working on the same page and working the same should get the same pay.
- Working hours—The daily limit is 9 hours a day or 48 hours per week, including rest or lunch breaks.
- Paid and Unpaid Leaves- The number of paid and unpaid leaves, including sick, special leave, holidays and maternity, is already mentioned in the Labor Codes.
