OpenAI's Annual Revenue Reached £10B, up from £5.5B in December 2024

OpenAI stated on Monday that its annualised revenue run rate has increased to £10 billion as of June, putting the business on track to fulfil its full-year objective amidst rising AI use.

According to the company’s recent figures, it is expected to have total revenue of £5.5 billion in December 2024.This figure has seen significant growth as the use of its popular ChatGPT artificial intelligence models continues to rise.

This suggests that OpenAI is on course to achieve its revenue target of £12.7 billion in 2025, which it previously disclosed to investors.

An OpenAI spokesperson confirmed that the £10 billion figure excludes licensing revenue from OpenAI-backed Microsoftand large one-off deals. CNBC first reported the details.

Since the startup previously lost a lot of money, OpenAI’s revenue achievement demonstrates that the company is ahead of its rivals in terms of making money.

Anthropic recently surpassed £3 billion in annualised revenue due to increased demand from code-gen startups using its models.

An announcement made by OpenAI in March said that Softbank would lead a new fundraising round, where up to £40 billion could be raised and the company valued at £300 billion.

Since launching Chatgpt two years ago, the company has introduced several kinds of subscription services to its consumers and business customers. The company was serving 500 million users weekly by the end of March this year.
