Paramount Skydance Wins Warner Bros; Netflix Shares Jump

Paramount Skydance has won the long battle to acquire Warner Bros after Netflix decided not to increase its bid. This bidding process lasted several months. On that netflix said, “We've always been disciplined, and at the price required to match Paramount Skydance's latest offer, the deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid”.  For this reason, Netflix officially stepped back. They have also confirmed that its stock price rose because investors felt the company made a smart financial decision and saved them from high financial loss.

"Once our board votes to adopt the Paramount merger agreement, it will create tremendous value for our shareholders”, Warner Bros’ CEO David Zaslav said in a statement. In addition to this, he also mentioned that, "We are excited about the potential of a combined Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros Discovery and can’t wait to get started working together telling the stories that move the world."

Paramount Skydance said that they worked very hard to win the deal. At one point, it even started a hostile campaign to take control of Warner.  Last week, Paramount returned with a better offer of $31 per share. This was higher than Netflix’s $ 27.75-per-share offer for Warner Bros’ studio and streaming assets, making it the stronger proposal.

A Netflix adviser said the company decided to step back because the deal no longer made financial sense. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos had earlier said the company would remain disciplined in its acquisitions.
