USA’s Major Tech Giants Announced Mass Layoff in 2025

The long-going layoffs in the United States of America continue to persist in 2025, affecting industries like tech, media, finance, manufacturing, and retail amidst economic challenges and technological advancements. According to Business Insider, approximately 41% of companies worldwide, including Microsoft, Ally, Blackrock and more, anticipate reducing their workforce within the next five years due to AI advancements. According to CitiBank, most banks are already looking to cut 200,000 jobs due to AI advancements.

Microsoft will terminate underperforming employees across all the departments and divisions, including its security division. The company’s spokesperson said, “We focus on high-performance talent and take appropriate action when people are not performing.” 

Similarly, BlackRock is planning to cut its workforce by 200 employees to align its resources with strategic goals. However, despite announcing major layoffs, the company announced that they would be hiring 2000 more individuals in the current year.

Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, has reduced its workforce by about 90 employees, representing 7% of its total staff, to maintain operational efficiency and reduce costs. This layoff will bring their employee count to the 2023 level. However, Bridgewater Associates is not the only company that has reduced its employee count to reduce costs. The Washington Post announced a reduction of their workforce by 4%, affecting nearly 100 employees.
