Trump Orders to Stop Using Anthropic AI Technology

The United States government has decided to stop using AI technology developed byAnthropic, an AI research company.

The US Department of War (Pentagon) wanted complete access to Anthropic’s tools. However, Anthropic’s CEO, Dario Amodei, refused. He said that the company was worried that giving unlimited access could allow its AI to be used for things like mass surveillance or fully autonomous weapons.

Amodei also said if the Pentagon decided to stop using Anthropic’s AI, the company would help make the switch to another AI provider as smoothly as possible.

Just before the Pentagon’s deadline, President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social, saying that all US federal agencies should immediately stop using Anthropic’s technology.

Trump also warned that if Anthropic did not cooperate during the transition, his administration could take legal action, including civil and criminal penalties.

The US Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, strongly criticized Anthropic in a social media post. He accused the company of being uncooperative and said it had damaged its relationships with the US government.

Hegseth said Anthropic will continue providing services for upto six months while the government switches to another AI company. After that, the US military will no longer use Anthropic’s AI. He further added that the military should not depend on technology companies that refuse to meet government requirements.

The disagreement is about control and security. Earlier, the US government decided to ban some Chinese-made robots and power inverters from being imported to protect its AI industry and reduce its dependence on China for imported technology.
