Trump Plans TikTok Executive Action for Thursday
President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order on Thursday confirming that a deal currently being negotiated by the White House to sell TikTok's U.S. operations will comply with the requirements of a 2024 law.

President Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order on Thursday confirming that a deal currently being negotiated by the White House to sell TikTok's U.S. operations will comply with the requirements of a 2024 law.
A White House source familiar with the matter stated that the order will declare the deal meets legal standards. Earlier this week, the White House indicated that Trump would declare that the divestment of TikTok's U.S. operations from its Chinese owner, ByteDance, fulfils the stipulations of a congressional law banning the app unless its Chinese ownership is ended.
Trump has praised TikTok, which has 170 million American users, for helping him secure re-election last year and has 15 million followers on his personal account. Additionally, the White House launched an official TikTok account last month.

Trump has postponed enforcement of the law until mid-December to allow time to transfer TikTok's U.S. assets from the global platform, attract American investors, and ensure the new ownership qualifies as a full divestment under the 2024 law. Another extension is anticipated in the executive order scheduled for Thursday.
