Yum! Shutting Down 250 Pizza Hut Restaurants

Yum! The parent company of Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell plans to close 250 underperforming Pizza Hut outlets in the United States. Ranjith Roy, chief financial officer for Yum!, made this announcement on February 4 during its financial results meeting. This announcement was made in November: they are reviewing the future of the Pizza Hut business, and the review is ongoing and expected to be completed this year.

Pizza Hut faced challenges in 2025; its global sales fell by 1%. By the end of the year, they had 19,974 restaurants worldwide, fewer than in 2024. In the United States, Pizza Hut accounts for about 40% of its total global sales, which dropped 7%.

However, KFC and Taco Bell performed well; KFC sales increased by 3%, and its outlets grew upto 33,897 globally. On the other hand, Taco Bell’s sales rose by 7% with 9,030 outlets worldwide. Overall, Yum! delivered excellent financial results. The company earned $1.56 billion in 2025, up 5% from 2024, and total revenue increased to $8.21 billion. Fourth-quarter profits and sales also increased compared to last year.
