Surety Capital Corporation appoints Bradley White as chief executive officer

DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas: Surety Capital Corporation's board has appointed Bradley White chief executive officer, the company said in a release distributed by PR Newswire on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The appointment comes as founder and board chair Dick Abrams retires from his day-to-day operating role after more than 50 years. Abrams will stay on as chair and focus on strategic oversight.

Who Bradley White Is

White is a certified public accountant with more than three decades of executive experience across global public companies and high-growth technology businesses, according to the release. The company says his background covers strategic transformation, operational improvement and financial management, including leading organizations through periods of expansion and modernization.

The release does not name White's previous employers or titles. That leaves his track record hard to assess from the announcement alone.

A Founder Hands Over Daily Control

Abrams framed the move as a planned succession. "Bradley's leadership experience, financial acumen, and ability to guide organizations through transformation make him the ideal executive to lead Surety Capital Corporation into its next chapter, as I retire from my day-to-day operational role after more than 50 years and focus on strategic oversight," he said in a prepared statement.

The result is a split between chair and chief executive, with the founder overseeing strategy from the board and a new CEO running the business. That structure has been gaining ground in larger companies too. TradeFlock has reported on how more S&P 500 companies are splitting the chair and CEO roles.

Acquisitions and Technology on the Agenda

The company called the appointment "a significant step in the organization's continued evolution and growth within the financial services sector."

White will be responsible for the company's strategic direction, growth, performance and technology expansion. The release says the board wants to grow Surety Capital's national footprint both organically and through acquisitions, and to keep investing in technology for its platform.

Abrams was specific about that. He said the board expects White to "continue to invest in technology solutions enhancing our platform, and target acquisitions for further growth."

White said he was honored to join "at such a pivotal moment" and pointed to the company's "strong foundation, a talented team, and a clear opportunity to expand its impact across the industry." He said he plans to work closely with the Surety team, its partners and stakeholders "to build on that momentum and deliver exceptional value."

What Assignment Funding Is

Surety Capital describes itself as a leader in assignment funding, with a simple process, a focus on resolving claims and 50 years of industry experience. In assignment funding, a business receives cash up front against a claim it assigns to the funder, who then collects. The release does not say which industries Surety serves or how large its business is.

That lack of numbers makes the acquisition plan hard to size. A company that wants to buy competitors needs capital, and the release does not say where it will come from.

The appointment landed a day before Archwell Capital named Mike Middleman its chief executive, another financial services leadership change that week. For Surety, the first concrete test will be whether White announces an acquisition or a technology investment in his early months, and whether the company begins sharing more detail about its size and funding.
