NEW YORK — On Sept. 22, 2026, the Interactive Advertising Bureau's Technology Laboratory (IAB Tech Lab) released AAMP 3.0, introducing the OpenProposal standard to automate and standardize the media buying workflow from the initial request for proposal to final purchase.
The release targets a phase of digital advertising operations that has historically relied on manual data entry and fragmented communication between buyers and sellers. According to the announcement published via PR Newswire, the new framework establishes a common technical standard for agent-based advertising transactions.
Strategic Context
Digital media procurement often involves custom intake forms, disparate email chains, and manual reconciliation across buy-side and sell-side platforms. These operational frictions lengthen workflows and increase overhead costs for publishers and agencies alike.
By introducing OpenProposal within AAMP 3.0, the organization attempts to build interoperability into the upstream stages of campaign execution. Standardization at the RFP and procurement level allows automated agents to negotiate and execute parameters without custom integrations for every counterparty.
Forward Outlook
Operators and enterprise procurement teams must evaluate how AAMP 3.0 integrates with their existing inventory management and order-management systems. As standardized protocols deploy across the sector, publishers and agency holding companies will need to determine whether their technology vendors support agent-based transaction workflows, or risk manual bottlenecks in automated media trading.
